Improving care

The Mentor Program benefits early childhood programs.

  • Improved staff retention

Mentors' programs experience lower staff turnover than industry averages.
  • More staff can complete student teaching requirements

Student teaching practicums are more accessible and may even be completed on site when a Mentor is also a co-worker.
  • Recognition for quality programs

Mentor sites have successfully completed a quality review process by a community-based Mentor Selection Committee.
  • Implementation of quality standards

Employees who take the Mentor Teacher Course learn and implement quality improvement measures in preparation for application to become a Mentor.
  • Staff development

The Mentor Teacher Course builds classroom supervision skills. Those selected as Mentors achieve a new rung on the career ladder.
