Improving Care with Programs
The Mentor Program benefits early childhood programs.

- Improved staff retention. Mentors' programs experience lower staff turnover than industry averages.
- More staff can complete student teaching requirements. Student teaching practicums are more accessible and may even be completed on site when a Mentor is also a co-worker.
- Recognition for quality programs. Mentor sites have successfully completed a quality review process by a community-based Mentor Selection Committee.
- Implementation of quality standards. Employees who take the Mentor Teacher Course learn and implement quality improvement measures in preparation for application to become a Mentor.
- Staff development. The Mentor Teacher Course builds classroom supervision skills. Those selected as Mentors achieve a new rung on the career ladder.
